About

INOPERAbLE was founded by Nicholas Platzer as a project and Studio Space in 2006 as an experimental platform for artists. Originally located in Lindengasse, Nicholas Platzer teamed up with art historian Nathalie Halgand and moved to Burggasse in 2008. 2014 the gallery relocated directly overviewing the Viennese Naschmarkt. In November 2015, after 69 exhibitions showing hundreds of artists from all over the world, INOPERAbLE closed the “brick and mortar” space. However, INOPERAbLE continues to represent some of the most important and impactful international artists in Austria and abroad. In order to expand our international reach, INOPERAbLE travels the world curating and organizing projects. Platzer currently runs the mural program at The Avenue Concept, a non-profit public arts program based in Providence, RI.

INOPERAbLE presents an ongoing program of exhibitions, projects and events and has specialized on the presentation of contemporary art emerging from urban subcultures. The groups´s focus is to promote great and innovative artists and to nurture the best talent from the new generation of artists around the world.

Over the past years, hundreds of artists have benefited from early exposure at INOPERAbLE Gallery, including for example Roa, Etam Cru, Nychos, Knarf, C215, Miss Van, Jana & JS, Christian Eisenberger, Aryz, Amose, Collin van der Sluijs.
